Cream Puffs (a.k.a. Easiest Desert on Earth)

The most awesome and incredibly easy desert ever. Who knew cream puffs would take all of 10 mins of labour and require absolutely no skill?  ..here I was, thinking this was going to be a challenge, hah!

So you got 15 minutes to spare?  try this recipe:

1/2 cup butter
1 cup water
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs

Preheat the oven to 425°

Basically, you bring the water and butter to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan, then remove from heat and add the flour while whisking the mixture to make sure there are no lumps; the mixture should come together and form a sticky ball.  Transfer the dough to a bowl and let cool for a few minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time mixing on low speed until the dough comes together. Now you can put the dough in a piping bag and pipe little puffs on an ungreased baking sheet (you can also just spoon the dough on the baking sheet, but I prefer piping cause it looks nicer).

Place the baking sheet in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they puff up and turn a nice golden-brown colour. **Tip: when you take them out of the oven, let them cool completely before you take them off the baking sheet, or the bottoms won’t come out as nicely (see difference in the pictures below).

Now you can fill them with whipped cream (heavy cream and powdered sugar mixed until fluffy and light) using a piping bag. And c’est ca! super easy, super quick!

You can drizzle these with melted chocolate, or even cover them entirely, whatever your little heart desires!
